HOUSE COMMITTEE PASSES NEW SCHOOL CHOICE LEGISLATION THAT WILL HELP MILLIONS OF STUDENTS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

Invest in Education Coalition praises House Ways and Means Committee members for supporting parental choice in K-12 education

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Invest in Education Coalition (IIEC), a national organization dedicated to advancing school choice at the federal level, applauded the House Ways and Means Committee for passing the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) out of committee.

The Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA), is designed to expand access to school choice for children nationwide by funding K-12 scholarships through private donations that cover essential elements such as tuition, tutoring, special needs services, education technology, or curriculum materials. The ECCA would give parents of K-12 students the power to choose the best educational options for their own children. The ECCA has more support than any other federal school choice bill in history with more than 150 House co-sponsors and more than 30 Senate co-sponsors.

A national survey shows more than 70 percent of voters across all demographics support school choice for all students. Additionally, recent polling of 1,000 registered voters shows that candidates who support school choice are more likely to receive support this election year.

“The ECCA is crucial for empowering parents to access the highest-quality education for their children. The ECCA will expand school choice to all 50 states and provide students with the opportunities they deserve,” said Anthony J. de Nicola, Chairman of the Board of Invest in Education Coalition. “Thank you, Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO), Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE), and members of the Ways and Means Committee who supported passage of the ECCA. We urge the House of Representatives to pass this critically important bill to help America’s K-12 parents and students.”
