Invest in Education Coalition applauds Congress for passing historic legislation supporting parental choice in K-12 education

WASHINGTON, DC – Invest in Education Coalition (IIEC), a national organization dedicated to advancing school choice at the federal level, applauds the House of Representatives for passing a permanent federal tax credit today for private donations to fund K-12 scholarships. This provision, which was included in the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill”, is based on the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA), authored by Rep. Adrian Smith in the House and Sen. Bill Cassidy in the Senate.

The ECCA, a federal tax credit scholarship bill, would help millions of students access a school or educational service of their parents’ choice. Scholarships will be funded with private donations, not federal money, and donors will receive a federal tax credit.

Anthony J. de Nicola, Chairman of the Board of Invest in Education Coalition, made the following statement:

“Today is an historic day for children throughout the nation, whose parents will be empowered to access the highest quality, most suitable education available to them. This is a huge victory for American families that have been praying and hoping for a financial lifeline to provide their children with the education they need to thrive. Thank you, Senator Bill Cassidy, Senator Tim Scott, Congressman Adrian Smith and Congressman Burgess Owens, for your leadership that made this legislation a reality for millions of children in the years ahead. Now, we look forward to seeing President Trump fulfill his commitment to expanding school choice and sign the “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” to help America’s K-12 students and their parents.”

The ECCA has widespread support:

  • During his campaign and following his re-election, President Trump has made his support for school choice clear. Recently he stated in a post “I’ve made School Choice a priority of my Administration. We need School Choice passed in every State!” And when asked on Fox and Friends whether he would support the proposed ECCA, President-elect Trump said, “I would sign it.”
  • More than 74 percent of voters of Americans strongly support school choice for all students.
  • 72 percent of Hispanic voters favor the ECCA.
