Invest in Education Coalition applauds House Ways and Means Committee for support of parental choice in K-12 education

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Invest in Education Coalition (IIEC), a national organization dedicated to advancing school choice at the federal level, commends the House Ways and Means Committee for including a federal tax credit for private donations for K-12 scholarships also known as the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) in the Committee’s “The One, Big, Beautiful Bill.”

The Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) is a federal tax credit scholarship bill that would help over a million students access a school or education service of their parents’ choice. Scholarships are funded with private donations, not federal money, and donors receive a federal tax credit. Students could use scholarships for tuition, tutoring to address learning loss, special needs services, or education technology.

The ECCA has widespread support:

  • During his campaign and following his re-election, President Trump has made his support for school choice clear. Recently he stated in a post “I’ve made School Choice a priority of my Administration. We need School Choice passed in every State!” And when asked on Fox and Friends whether he would support the proposed ECCA, President-elect Trump said, “I would sign it.”
  • More than 74 percent of voters of Americans strongly support school choice for all students.
  • 72 percent of Hispanic voters favor the ECCA

“This legislation is an historic step for Congress to expand school choice in every state and fulfill President Trump’s pledge of universal school choice. The ECCA will empower parents and provide students with the opportunities they deserve regardless of their zip code,” said Anthony J. de Nicola, Chairman of the Board of Invest in Education Coalition. “Thank you, Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO), Rep. Adrian Smith (R-NE), and members of the Ways and Means Committee for your leadership on the ECCA. We urge the Ways & Means Committee to pass this critically important bill to help America’s K-12 parents and students.”
