POLL: Americans Strongly Support School Choice

By a 3-to-1 margin, voters support the national school choice legislation – Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA)

Fabrizio, Lee & Associates, one of the nation’s premier public opinion research firms, conducted a survey on January 5-8, 2025 of U.S. voters nationwide on the issue of school choice.

KEY FINDINGS

VOTERS NATIONWIDE SUPPORT SCHOOL CHOICE FOR ALL STUDENTS

  • Nearly three quarters (74%) of voters favor School Choice where parents are allowed to choose the public, private or technical trade school they send their children to.
  • Eight out of ten voters (81%) agree that the U.S. should empower parents and prioritize individual students’ needs by providing greater access and more choices to ensure children receive the best education.

AMERICANS NOT SATISFIED WITH EXISTING EDUCATION SYSTEM BELIEVE PARENTS SHOULD HAVE MORE OF A SAY

  • Three-quarters (75%) of voters would rate the public education system in the U.S. as fair or poor.
  • By nearly a 2-to-1 margin voters believe that parents should be in charge of deciding the best education for U.S. children as opposed to local school boards, teachers’ unions or government.
  • Sixty-five (65%) percent of voters believe that parents should have more of a say in deciding children’s education rather than teachers’ unions.

NATIONAL SCHOOL CHOICE LEGISLATION IS SUPPORTED BY VOTERS ACROSS THE COUNTRY

  • Sixty-five (65%) percent of voters support the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA), which would allow individuals and businesses to donate to non-profit scholarship granting organizations so parents can send their children to schools that best meet their educational needs.
  • By nearly a 2 to 1 margin, voters would be more likely to vote for a Congressman or U.S. Senator who voted in favor of the ECCA.

HISPANIC VOTERS SHOW STRONGEST SUPPORT FOR SCHOOL CHOICE

  • Over three-quarters (78%) of Hispanic voters favor School Choice where parents are allowed to choose the public, private or technical trade school they send their children to.
  • Seventy-two (72%) percent of Hispanic voters favor the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA),
  • Eighty-seven (87%) percent of Hispanic voters agree that we should empower parents and prioritize individual students’ needs by providing greater access and more choices to ensure children receive the best education.

Methodology

A Survey of 1,000 registered voters nationally and 400 Hispanics oversample conducted on January 5-8, 2025.
