School Choice Champions Advocate for the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA)

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, the Invest in Education Coalition (IIEC), a national organization dedicated to advancing school choice at the federal level, recognized the continued support for nationwide school choice following the introduction of the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA), a federal tax credit scholarship bill that would enable parents of as many as two million K-12 students across the country to access a school or education service of their choice.

School choice champion President Trump recently stated in a post, “I’ve made School Choice a priority of my Administration. We need School Choice passed in every State!” He also expressed his support for school choice when asked recently on Fox and Friends whether he would support the proposed ECCA, saying, “I would sign it. Anything to do with school choice, I’ll support.” Now, the Invest in Education Coalition is encouraging members of Congress to join in the support so that the legislation can be passed this year.

Here is what school choice champions are saying:

Congressman Byron Donalds (FL-19): “Those resources would be better spent actually getting in to the hands of parents so their children can be better educated, this is one of the reasons why I support the ECCA going into budget reconciliation.”

Congressman Mark Messmer (IN-8): “I am proud to join my friend Rep. Adrian Smith and other distinguished colleagues on this committee in co-sponsoring the Educational Choice for Children Act, a bill that would provide k-12 scholarships to as many as two million students across the country to attend the school that best meets their needs.”

American Federation for Children’s Walter Banks, Jr.: “…that is why I also support the Educational Choice for Children Act, which would give students in every state access to scholarships opening doors to schools that best meets their needs that are currently closed. For some it’s the difference between struggling and succeeding.”

Anthony J. de Nicola, Chairman of Invest in Education Coalition, said:

“Momentum around school choice and the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) continues to grow. These school choice champions understand the importance of empowering parents to make the best decisions for their children and have seen the real impact it can make in a child’s life. Now is the time for Congress to pass the ECCA so that millions of children across America can have access to the education that best meets their needs regardless of their zip code.”
